Dr. Jason Chan currently serves as the Director of the School of Professional Education and Executive Development (SPEED) at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU), as well as the Associate Dean (Information and Development) of the PolyU School of Professional and Continuing Education (CPCE) and the Director of Information Technology at CPCE. Dr. Chan is an expert in innovative technology and a multidisciplinary professional, holding various degrees and certifications. He earned a Bachelor’s degree (First Class Honours) in Public and Social Administration from City University of Hong Kong, a Master of Science in Computing, a Master’s degree in Educational Technology from the University of British Columbia, and a Doctorate in Education from the University of Bristol. He is also a certified project manager from Stanford University and a registered accountant with CPA Australia. His academic background and experience span multiple disciplines, making him a professional in public management, education, artificial intelligence, big data, social media, social commerce, fintech, the Internet of Things, strategy, resource management, leadership, smart cities, research methods, and electronic governance.
He has also served as a member of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (Shanghai Songjiang) (2017-2022), a member of the Solicitors Disciplinary Tribunal (2015-2021), a member of the Transport Tribunal (2013-2020), a member of the Consumer Council (2016-2017), and a member of the Advisory Committee on the Education Development Fund (representative of higher education institutions) (2012-2019). In recognition of his years of service and contributions to society and the government, Dr. Chan was appointed Justice of the Peace (JP) by the Hong Kong SAR Government in 2017 and awarded the Medal of Honour (MH) in 2021.
In terms of voluntary and professional service, Dr. Chan is currently the Director of the Hong Kong Digital Currency Research Institute and the Vice President of the Hong Kong UNESCO Association (Innovation and Technology). He has also served as the President of Mensa Hong Kong (2012-2015 and 2018-2020), the Chairman of the Young Professionals Alliance (Education) (2014-2017), and the Vice President of the Hong Kong Institute of Public Administration (2014-2020). Dr. Chan is a true partner of the community and the nation, frequently organizing and participating in highly acclaimed community service activities.
